CGScreative 30 day Photo Challenge Instagram Photo Challenge

Has your Instagram feed also been taken over by posts asking you to turn on notifications? I know that a lot of people are rather upset by the latest changes announced by Instagram, but I'm here to tell you today that it's not going to be the end of the world for you.

It's also not a huge surprise that Instagram, which is now owned by Facebook, will soon be implementing these changes.

If you're not sure what the changes mean, here is a easy to digest summary of what has got everyone in a tizz.

Instagram is planning to show us the content it thinks we like, based on our previous actions (ie. our likes and comments). This means that it is now more important than ever to be liking and commenting on those accounts that you really love and want to follow, rather than engaging with accounts that you hope will follow you if you spam their feed enough.

An extra step you *can* do to make sure you don't miss out on the accounts you love, is to turn on notifications. The problem with this, is you'll then be getting so many annoying notifications ALL THE TIME. Also, this doesn't guarantee that those posts will show up in your feed. However, you will get a notification every time they post. If you don't mind getting notifications, then this is a great way to stay up to date with your favourite IG accounts. But, if you are like me and already have far too many notifications to keep up with, then an easier way to make sure your favourite accounts stay in your feed is to actively engage with the accounts you love.

This means liking and commenting on the posts that you enjoy, rather then scrolling on by.

With the above in mind, I have come up with a fun way for us all to engage with one another in a genuine way. While helping one another get seen by more people, we will be growing our own audiences and following...it's basically a win-win situation! And, you are probably going to find so many new & wonderful accounts to follow too.

So here's my idea.

A 30 day photo challenge for the month of April, with daily prompts to get our creative juices flowing, and to find and connect with more like minded creatives.

I am SO excited to get started, and I just know that by joining in this challenge you are going to see your own Instagram account grow in leaps and bounds. So, today I want to challenge you to join, and stick out the challenge for the whole 30 days. We will begin on Friday 1st April (ie. TOMORROW!)

Above is a summary of the prompts for each day.

If you've never participated in a photo-challenge like this before don't worry, it's really simple. All you have to do is follow the prompt for each day. So for the first day, you'll think about the theme (Glitter) and then go and take/create an image that sums up the word 'Glitter' for you. This could be a photo of a glittery pair or earrings, shoes or even something crafty that you made using glitter. The prompts are open to any and all interpretation and are designed to get your creative juices flowing.

Share this graphic on Instagram (and any of your other social media platforms) so we can get as many people joining in as possible. The more people who join, the more engagement each of us will get. You can interpret each prompt in any way you'd like. It’s all about being creative and having fun. Also, please don’t feel 'pressured' to post. This challenge is supposed to be a fun way of engaging with each other, and if you happen to miss a few days it doesn’t mean you're a failure. It means you’re human and have a busy life.
