It only took us 3 years, but we finally found the perfect little wooden cabin in the mountains here in Korea. And the best part, they are dog friendly (not just in the cabin, but in the surrounding campsite too!). I am always looking for get away places here in Korea, and even before having a dog and needing to worry about places that would allow him, I hadn't found much in terms of 'western style' cabins that didn't cost the earth. Stumbling upon Art In Island was one of the highlights of our stay here in Korea, and the place itself exceeded all of our expectations.

Art In Island is a delightful little corner of the Korean countryside, surrounded by mountains and a river (great for fishing!) and great for hiking and exploring too. As you can see from the photos below, we headed to the cabin in winter (the snow made everything magical) but I can tell that this place would be just as wonderful in all seasons.

The cabin owned by the most friendly man, Hao, who was great to communicate with before and during our stay. He replied instantly to all my messages and both him and the local manager went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable stay. Hao speaks perfect English and really was wonderful to communicate with, even though he lives in Seoul, he often visits the cabin and is a great guy to hang out with and get to know. And the fact that he was so friendly to our dog, Shadow, made us like him even more!

If you own a dog here in Korea, you'll know just how hard it is to find dog friendly accommodation, especially if you own a 'large' breed dog. This cabin was everything we hoped it would be and will definitely be going back before we leave Korea.

The cabin itself has 2 bedrooms; one downstairs and the other upstairs in the loft. There are two bathrooms, as both bedrooms are en-suite, with the shower being downstairs.

There is a fully functioning kitchen with everything you need for self catering (stove, pots, pans, microwave) and a lovely dining area with a big bay window that looks out onto the surrounding area.

Behind the curtains in the photo below, is my favourite part of the cabin...the hot tub! 

We spent 3 nights at the cabin. There is so much to see and explore, that is if you want to venture outside. It was rather cold when we went there, so apart from walking my dog, I spent most of the time working on my blog. It was a great, quiet space to work in and I got so much work done during my stay.

There is also a lovely coffee shop just outside the cabins, and the locals had organised a whole host of fun activities which Farmboy joined. He did some leather work and made a beautiful mouse pad for his computer. They also took him fishing and had a whole host of manly things like sling shots and bows to do target practice with. You really won't ever be bored staying there.

There is also the world famous Phoenix Park Ski Resort nearby for the winter months, if you happen to enjoy a bit of a ski or snowboard.

The cabin and surrounding campsite (yes there really are amazing all weather tents/TeePees to hire) are built on a real island, which you access from a little bridge.

This cabin is situated a outside of Pyeongchang (which is North East of Wonju). We have a car and so were able to easily access the cabin. If you are traveling by public transport, it would probably be easiest to get a bus (or train and then bus depending on where you are coming from) to Wonju and then Pyeonchang as that is the nearest town to this cabin. The map below will give you a rough idea of where the cabin is.
