DIY Chai Spice
An easy recipe for making the perfect Chai Spice! I mainly use Chai to brighten up my hot chocolate (recipe to come soon!) as it adds a wonderful flavour to an already delicious drink. Pictured below are all the ingredients in their natural form. You can of course use all of these things in powdered form (available at most grocery stores), but I used a mixture. Using the ground form of these ingredients also creates a finer powder at the end, but its up to you which you prefer, or which you have available. You can grind each ingredient yourself too by blitzing in a blender.
Most of these spices we bought in markets on our travels around South East Asia (they make great souvenirs for friends and family!) but they can be found online through iHerb or at various Asia Marts here in South Korea.
I also added in a Star Anise at the end to give my mixture more flavour. Other things you can include if you have them; vanilla pods, all spice, black pepper, liquorice and nutmeg.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon Cardamom (about 11 pods)
3 teaspoon ground Ginger
2 teaspoons ground Cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground
Directions
Simply pop everything into a blender and wizz for about 10 minutes. If you want to make your life easier and avoid little bits floating in your tea/hot chocolate, remove the shell of the cardommon pods before blending.
